Ed & Denise Lindow in Scottsdale, AZ

When Ed and Denise Lindow contacted a GeOasis Professional Installer to replace their old heat pumps, they figured it would be an easy remove-and-replace. Little did they know that they would soon be the proud owners of a brand-new geothermal heating and cooling system. What they found is what many are discovering when they look to replace an inefficient system: that a geothermal system is not only more cost-effective to run—it can allow you more comfort than you have previously experienced.

Ed and Denise have lived in their home for about 12 years, and had never really thought much of the heat pumps outside. They knew that they cooled the air inside their 2,000 square foot home, but they also knew they never got a break. Some families use a programmable thermostat to turn the temperature up during the hot midday hours. This saves energy and wear and tear on the units. But because Denise works out of the home, the temperature had to be comfortable all hours of the day. The result is heat pumps that never really had any downtime. With that constant load over the years, it is not surprising that they needed to be replaced. Something had to be done.

Being very ecologically conscious, the Lindows installed solar panels, utilize gray water for their lawn and garden, and have invested in a pond system to balance their eco-friendly back yard.  The addition of the GeOasis geothermal system was another big step toward energy independence and environmental balance.

Fortunately for Ed and Denise, they were able to leverage APS incentives and tax breaks to reduce their purchase price of a geothermal system to near that of a conventional heat pump. Add in the lower operating costs, and their choice was clear. However, it was not quite that easy.

Anyone who has lived in the Southwest knows that the weather can be hot and oppressive. Having a home where you can escape the heat and cool down is not a luxury—it is a necessity. That’s why the Lindows put such a priority on making an investment in their comfort that would last the test of time.

The more efficient geothermal system allows Ed and Denise to keep their home 4-5 degrees cooler than before, and nearly the same cost. That difference doesn’t go unnoticed by Denise, who loves the cooler air and the reduced noise of the system. When you work from home, that sort of increased comfort is a big deal, since you are in the house for the better part of the day.

The Lindows also appreciated the level of support and technical flexibility that was provided by their GeOasis Professional Installer. From the initial consultation to the actual installation, the professionals made sure the Lindows felt comfortable with the whole process. And now they feel even more comfortable in their newly outfitted home.
