GeOasis Hybrid Geothermal System FAQs

What Is Geothermal?

Geothermal units, similar to ordinary heat pumps, are used to cool and heat homes, businesses and other indoor spaces. The significant difference is that geothermal units use the solar energy stored just below our feet to provide heating, air conditioning and hot water. The earth acts as a giant solar panel, absorbing roughly half of the sun’s heat energy. Geothermal systems tap into that stored energy. In the winter, this heat is transferred through a loop, concentrated, and delivered throughout your home. During summer, the excess heat in your home is removed and delivered back to the earth, completing the cycle.

Because geothermal units use the earth’s natural heat, they are among the most efficient and comfortable heating and cooling technologies currently available.

What Is A GeOasis Hybrid Geothermal System?

GeOasis Hybrid Geothermal systems take advantage of another natural method of temperature regulation. When the sun’s energy meets water, evaporation occurs. Evaporation transfers the sun’s energy into the atmosphere where the moisture condenses and returns in the form of precipitation. A hybrid geothermal system utilizes modern technology to accelerate the process of evaporation and condensation resulting in energy efficient, renewable, heating and cooling. Large commercial buildings utilize water-cooled air conditioning systems. Typically water-cooled systems have a 40% to 60% efficiency advantage over air-cooled air conditioning equipment. Air cooled systems lose efficiency as the outdoor temperature changes. Since geothermal systems utilize steady ground temperatures to transfer heat, efficiencies are not affected by outdoor temperature fluctuation.

How Much Water Does A GeOasis Hybrid Geothermal System Use?

It takes a lot of water to generate electricity. Typically 2.2 kilowatt hours are lost in delivering power for every kilowatt hour that is consumed. This means that any water that is used to conserve electricity at the end of the power line reduces water consumption overall.

How Long Will GeOasis Systems Last?

Extreme temperatures take a toll on traditional air cooled systems. GeOasis systems operate under much more stable conditions. These stable conditions are mechanically less stressful and greatly increase life expectancy. GeOasis warranties lead the industry. Geothermal equipment is designed to last more than 30 years and with the reduction of loads average life expectancy of more than 24 years!!

Are There Other Advantages To GeOasis Systems?

GeOasis systems have many additional advantages over conventional air to air HVAC systems. GeOasis systems are extremely quiet and are more flexible because they do not need to move outdoor air to transfer heat. A GeOasis system can be designed for your home or business, offering unlimited choices that will improve the value of your property. Residential applications can expect savings of 20-50% off utility bills. Commercial properties can reduce energy consumption on their existing equipment by 20-40%. Payback is less than 5 yrs in most applications.

Do Geoasis Systems Work With Swimming Pools?

YES! Modern day geothermal systems trace their roots back to the swimming pool. Geothermal systems will perform extremely well if properly designed for the climate. In the desert for example pool tied geothermal systems require a boost in order to deal with the additional heat. GeOasis systems are properly designed to best manage heat transfer, increasing the usable season, use, and value of your pool. GeOasis systems are a proven design that delivers maximum efficiencies, extends your swimming season, increases your pool comfort (even in the heat of our summer), and adds immeasurable value to your new or existing pool.

When Is The Best Time To Have A GeOasis System Installed?

With the utility rebates and tax credits currently available, NOW is the best time to invest. Nobody knows exactly how long local and federal subsidies will last and what’s here today may be gone tomorrow.

A typical installation will take about a week to complete, depending on number of systems and size of home. In most situations the installation is managed so that you are left with out air conditioning or heat for no more than 24 to 48 hours. The Fall, Winter and Spring climates offer the best and most strategic conditions, however the Bridge to GeOasis option offer year round solutions.

Are There Any Federal Tax Credits Or Rebates Associated With Geoasis Systems?

YES! GeOasis systems qualify for the 2009 reinvest and recovery acts 30% renewable tax credit. These credits are not capped at the $1,500.00 limit like the air to air credits so the savings are HUGE. Arizona Public Service (APS) customers can also qualify for incentives up to 50% of the purchase price. In most cases this cuts the system cost in HALF!

How Do The APS Incentives Work For GeOasis Systems?

The APS Geothermal incentives can be assigned to you, the home or business owner, or the installing contractor which keeps out of pocket expenses to a minimum. In order to qualify for local utility incentives there are requirements and conditions that must be followed.

The first step is to have an in home evaluation performed and establish a budget for the upgrade. An APS application can then be submitted for review and conditional approval. This review process can take 2-4 weeks, during which time additional design and review is normally performed in preparation for the installation. Once APS approves the project, the local municipality permitting process is set it motion.

Upon completion of the installation and commissioning process a final inspection is performed by the local municipality. The completion packet is then submitted to APS for funding. This entire process is normally takes between 6 to 10 weeks.

Why Have I Not Heard Of Geoasis Systems Before Now?

GeOasis has been developing, testing, improving, and installing existing technologies for the last two years to bring this product to market. Today, local municipalities, APS, SRP, and other governing associations have permitted, inspected, approved and endorsed these systems so that the public may now enjoy all these benefits!
